Workshop and exhibition, results from the collaborative practice of a group of scientists and artists who were involved in all stages from the preparatory stages, in Brazil, to the event in Havana.
LART, in the Art and Science circuit by proposing transdisciplinary practices in ART AND TECHNOSCIENCE, still UNPRECEDENTED in the contemporary environment, is characterized as a platform for production and reflection with the NEW LEONARDOS, dissolving the old divergences between artists and scientists. The project with MinC was an opportunity to expand the proposal in the cultural circuit of shows and exhibitions at Biennials. The focus on biosensing is innovative for the arts. In the convergence of Art and Science, the proposal is of relevance and its vocation is to point out ways, which we propose with this proposal centered on the humanization of technologies.
The theme related to Brazilian culture, takes up the issue of rituals developed by Domingues in his research with technologies since the 1990s. and Miosso and for Gonçalves' research into music. LART constitutes an unprecedented space in Latin America for creative technologies and innovation from the perspective of the humanization of technologies and the theme linked to rituals is evident as a field of investigation for affective aesthetics and expansion of the sensorium, which gains relevance on the world stage, being endorsed by the partnership with the MIT Camera Culture Media Lab.
These are researches in Culture and Technologies that are part of the research frameworks of the MCTI CNPq and MEC/CAPES, and that through this MinC project place our country in the international circuit of Arts and Science. Politically, the Biennial, which seeks to consolidate Brazil/Cuba international relations in the commitment to generate culture between the countries, was, therefore, a cultural/educational-artistic contribution to address issues of affective aesthetics and the expanded sensorium, adding the visual arts, music , body arts, biomedical engineering. In the field of art and aesthetics, studies of the body synesthesia and affectivity beyond the art of appearance and representation were totally innovative in the fusion with biomedical engineering, which govern the present proposal.
Mainly the workshops were an opportunity for the presence of engineers and computer scientists, as well as performers, dancers and people linked to African-American rituals showing a relationship between art, anthropology, medicine, physical education, physiotherapy, engineering, informatics, and other areas intertwined, breaking down the divisions between and divergences between artists and scientists. It is evident that art dealing with problems of life based on phenomena and sensations linked to the body, nature and phenomena of perception reconnects the various knowledge and skills, in the proposal of the New Leonardos. On the other hand, the exhibition, with technologies, emphasized rituals and the body in unusual signal processing situations and the new field for research with images and technologies, related to abstractionism in data visualization.
