Description
The biopoem "Erratum I" is what Kac calls a "biotope", that is, a living work that changes in response to internal metabolism and environmental conditions, including temperature, relative humidity, airflow, and light levels in the exhibition space. It is literally a self-sustaining ecology comprised of countless very small living beings in a medium of earth, water, and other materials. Kac orchestrates the metabolism of this diverse microbial life in order to produce the constantly-evolving living work, a poem that evolves and eventually effaces itself to generate new, unpredictable forms.
