Method
situational participatory event, in which 64 portraits and vocal samples were taken from attendants at the event. During the conference, the work was coded in “Emergency Artlab” time and performed live at the end of the event.
64 virtual “cubes of flesh” were created onto which the portraits and a random barcode was added. During performance, the cubes gradually emerged from a larger “flesh cube” while the vocal samples were mixed and performed live during the process. They were also later incorporated into a separate interactive piece.
The idea was to highlight the willingness with which we give away personal data, which is collected and demographically processed—typically for sale to interested parties—often without our explicit permission. The work was a playful attempt to showcase this process with willing participants from a live audience, with no ulterior motives.
