Instant Messaging consists of an ad hoc network - spontaneously created network on top of an existing network - of software generated flies. The software works in a similar manner to a real-time peer-to-peer messaging software. The generated flies communicate, send and receive messages, seek each other out, mate and fly back and forth between computers on a network. Once the software is installed on a computer the virtual flies instantly propagate to other computers that already have the software installed.
