Description
The digital animation "Conquistadors" examines the tensions and conflicts that define the Russian territory in the age of privatization. The artist reflects on current modes of domination, both foreign and domestic, on the Russian territory, and points to cases of shifting control as well as to the competition over formerly common space of the Soviet Empire. Ironically commenting the "global conquests" that has become standard practice in the current stage of post-communist capitalism, "Conquistadors" provides a dystopian picture of space completely reappropriated by the capitalist enterprise.(Elena Sorokina, text from the catalog of The 2nd Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art)
Conquistadors are also active in other countries : France, Ukraine, Iraq, etc…
