Series 'Body Scanned Architecture'

The work series 'Projektskizzen' was developed in 2001, based on the interactive computer environment 'Body Scanned Architecture', which was realized in the Austrian pavilion of the Venice Biennale in 1995, and the second version 'Body Scanned Architecture II', which was realized in 1999 in the Künstlerhaus Wien.
For the multi-layered photographic works, a digitally-produced photograph of one or more persons was superimposed on specific wire-framed models (with architectural quotes by Josef Hoffmann and Friedrich Kiesler, as used in the Biennale work) using a computer 3D program. According to the respective wire frame, the photo's content was distorted.
The distorted body image and the corresponding camera setting of the wire frame are rendered separately and printed as computer plots: the wire frame in the form of black lines on white photographic paper, and the coloured, distorted photo on semi-transparent foil. The line plot is laminated onto an acrylic glass plate from behind, and the coloured plot onto the front of the same plate.
The semi-transparent foil allows the underlying line diagram to shine through: it creates a 3D effect. The works lean against the wall or are fixed at a certain distance from the wall.
