der zermesser, 2007
Robot Der Zermesser is an autonomous object whose purpose is to feel its way around and to articulate the relation between its own form and its surroundings. Each side and each corner are autonomous entities. The four corners are capable of recognising when the object reaches the borders of its surrounding space. The six sides can control their own length and thereby change the shape of the whole object. This transformation also enables the object to move freely within the space by changing its centre of gravity and its dispersion. Each side is in continuous communication with all the other sides and corners, given that the decision of each entity holds the possibility of breaking the geometric rules of the overall shape and letting it collapse.
