Karina Smigla-Bobinski works as intermedia artist with analogue and digital media. She produces and collaborates on projects ranging from kinetic sculptures, interactiveinstallations, art interventions, featuring mixed reality and interactive art objects, and also works in videos, multimediaphysical theatre performances and online projects.

Currently she is a Visiting ResearchFellow and Artist in Residence at ZiF Center for Interdisciplinary Research, Bielefeld University’s Institute for AdvancedStudy, that accordingly to its interdisciplinary orientation promotes the dialog between art and science.

Karina Smigla-Bobinski lives and works as a freelance artist in Munich and Berlin. She studied art and visual communication at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, Poland and Munich, Germany.

Her works has been shown in 43 countries on 5 continents at festivals, galleries and museums internationally, including THE LOWRY (UK), La Viellette in Peris (France), GARAGE Center for Contemporary Culture in Moscow (Russia), ZERO1 Biennial in Silicon Valley (US), FILE Electronic Language International Festival in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), FACT Foundation for Art and CreativeTechnology in Liverpool (UK), Busan Biennale (South Korea), Bangkok University Gallery (Thailand).

Her collaborative performances has been shown at Biennale di Venezia - Arsenale, Venice (Italy), the Festival Montpellier(France), Grand Théâtre (Luxembourg), Festival in Kabul (Afghanistan), GoDown Art Center Nairobi (Kenya), National School of Drama in Delhi (India), Festival Caracas (Venezuela), Fadjr-Festival in Tehran (Iran), Art Festival(South Korea), Haus der Kunst in Munich (Germany), Berliner Festspiele (Germany).

She has broadcast and lectured widely and held various artist residency at many universities and cultural organisationsworldwide, including University of the Arts in Berlin, IED Istituto Europeo di Design and FLAG creative companie andeducational institution for robotics in Sao Paulo (Brazil), Department of Art and Design at the University of AppliedSciences in Augsburg, Goethe Institut Sri Lanka, Fine Art Academy in Wroclaw (Poland), Universität Kabul (Afghanistan) or Bangkok University (Thailand).

In 2016, La Villette is inaugurating a new multidisciplinary festival. It Is certain to be both rich and surprising. Offering theater, dance, circus, and music, 100% will satisfy the most demanding in artistic tastes for a huge celebration of creativity and innovation.

 

The Festival

 

Juggling with all artistic languages, 100% will be unfurling the activities throughout an entire month: shows, installations, concert, workshops, walks, and meet-ups. This festival is an invitation to discover the diversity of the artists in residence here year-round and to see the best of their current creative output through some big names on the international scene. The challenge for offering a festival up to La Villette’s high standards has been met.
