About
As a pioneer project in the field of Media Art research and preservation, the ARCHIVE OF DIGITAL ART (ADA) has been striving to document the rapidly evolving field of "digital born" art since 1999. The ever growing collection and vast overview of works and research material at the intersection of art, science and technology has only been possible in cooperation with international media artists, researchers and institutions as a collective project.

Within the framework of the ongoing "project ADA" the initiator Prof. Oliver Grau has been conducted various conferences, online exhibitions, research projects together with Wendy Coones, and also published various books on virtual/immersive/media art, hosted by the Danube University Krems in conjunction with the international board members of the Archive.

Currently there are two research projects underway, funded by the Austrian Ministry of Education, Science and Research, with the goal of further developing the archive into a comprehensive teaching and research platform:

Founded in 1999 by Prof. Oliver Grau as "Database of Virtual Art". In 2009 the domain, name and concept changed to "Archive of Digital Art".

CIVA Festival 2022 - Embodied Structures

https://civa.at/ Titled “Embodied Structures,” the second edition of Vienna’s media art festival is devoted to the body and its multiple and ever-changing identities. The second edition will take place from February 18 to 26, 2022, at Belvedere 21, Stadtkino Wien, Volkstheater, and online. While most of the program is free of charge, prior registration is required for some works due to limited space capacities.
