Andreas Zingerle is a media artist, designer, lecturer and researcher from Austria. He received his PhD from the University of Art and Design Linz (Austria) researching topics such as Internet crime, fraud and scam, vigilante counter-movements and anti-fraud activism. He implements social engineering strategies that emerge in his research into interactive narratives, artistic installations, data visualizations and creative media competence trainings. In the last years he worked on several installations exploring a creative (mis)use of technology and alternative ways of Human Computer Interaction. Since 2004 he takes part in international conferences and exhibitions, among others Ars Electronica, ISEA, Aksioma, Siggraph, Japan Media Arts Festival, File, WRO Biennial.
2020-2024 he has been director of mur.at – a server farm for the creative & cultural sector in Graz, Austria. In this role he was mainly developing the artistic programs "Paradigmenwechsel", "(un)sustainable" and "A tribute to Aaron" which was held in cooperation with AcoNet and other partners. He was also the host of the monthly radio program Netzrauschen Episode 4-31 at Freies Radio Helsinki in Graz/Austria. Invited and coordinated Artists in Residence were César Escudero Andaluz (https://escuderoandaluz.com/), Ricardo Ginès (Tactical Tech Berlin).
2017-2018 he held a Research Assistant Professor Position at the Sol International School’s Department of Global Media Arts, Daejeon, Republic of Korea. He was the Co-PI in the Global Research Network grant “The Internet of other people`s things” (누군가의 사물 인터넷) funded by the Korean National Research Foundation (NRF – 2017S1A2A2041837).
In 2016 he completed his Ph.D. studies at the University of Art and Design Linz (Austria), researching topics such as online security, Internet cime, vigilante counter-movements and anti-fraud activism.
Since 2010 he works together with Linda Kronman as the Kairus collective. Kairus has been awarded the Outstanding Artist Awards 2022 by the Austrian Federal Ministry for Arts and Culture.
