Jennifer Willet is a biomedia artist and professor with a strong focus on laboratory aesthetics and participatory practices methodologies. Currently, she is Director of Incubator Lab at the University of Windsor in Canada.
Her work resides at the intersection of art and science, and explores notions of representation, the body, ecologies, and interspecies interrelations in the biotechnological field. Willet uses analog, digital and biological technologies supporting her participatory practice with printmaking tradition, digital imaging, biological forms and reproduction.
She receive her PHd in Interdisciplinary Studies at Concordia University (2009) has a MFA in Printmaking/New Media from the The University of Guelph (1999) and a BFA in Visual Arts (Painting/Printmaking) from the The University of Calgary(1997). Exhibitions include: the Arnolfini Museum, Bristol UK (2010), Exit Art Gallery, New York, NY (2009), Ars Electronica festival, Linz (2008), ISEA (2006) amongst many others.
She has conducted research during residencies at The Banff Centre for the Arts Banff, Canada (2002, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011), and SymbioticA, The University of Western Australia, Perth, Australia (2004, 2006).
