Waldvogel is an architect and a specialist on the senses of perception as they relate to the digital realm. Her work explores the nature of multi-sensory experiencing and expression, with a particular focus on the feelings, emotions, and thoughts evoked by the sense of touch. Recent projects include the Digital Agora, a multimedia textile space for the Harvard Center for Hellenic Studies in Washington DC; the Knowroom, an interactive beeswax wall for the EPA in North Carolina; and the Swisshouse, a physical/digital consulate for Switzerland located in Cambridge. She has taught and lectured at a variety of universities and labs including the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Mitsubishi Electric Research Lab, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Rhode Island School of Design, Boston Architectural Center and University of California, Berkeley. Waldvogel is the recipient of an IKEA Design/Innovation Grant, a Holderbank Foundation Grant, a Build Massachusetts Award, and was a visiting scientist at the MIT Artificial Intelligence Lab. A native of Zürich, Switzerland, Waldvogel received her BA from Barnard College, and her Master in Architecture and PhD in visual design from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zürich).
