David Link is a media artist and researcher. Between 2009 and 2011 he was Chair for Experimental Technologies in the Art Context at the Academy of Visual Arts Leipzig. In 2004, he wrote his PhD in philosophy at Humboldt-University Berlin, and the Academy of Arts and the Media, Cologne, with a thesis on text generating software in the early years of computer history (“Poetry Machines / Machine Poetry”). In the beginning of his career he founded and edited ARTIC, a journal for art and philosophy. He also founded Codelab, an artist group for the realization of media art projects in Berlin. Since 1997, numerous national and international institutions and festivals have exhibited his computer art installations and performances. His work “Poetry Machine” (2001), an interactive text generator based on semantic networks, is part of the permanent collection at the Center for Art and Media Technology ZKM, Karlsruhe.
