Reiner Strasser

Reiner Strasser is an artist of traditional and digital arts. He studied art, art history and philosophy at the University of Mainz, Germany. His Web works, international collaborations, and Web art projects date from 1996. Strasser's Web work has appeared in several exhibitions/publications including Net Art Guide, Frauenhofer Institut, 2000, Germany; NOW Festival Nottingham, 1999, GB; E-POETRY festival, 2001, Buffalo, USA; COSIGN 2002, Augsburg, Germany; contributions to projects for the Biennale Venice 1999, 2001, 2003, Italy; AJAC Art Exhibition, Metropolitan Art Museum, Tokyo, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, Japan; FILE 2001, 2004, 2005, São Paulo, Brasil.

Reiner Strasser was born 1954 in Antwerp/Anvers, Belgium. From 1973 to 1980 study of art, art history and philosophy in Mainz, Germany. Resident since 1977 in Wiesbaden, Germany.

The artistic activities are characterized by recurring changes of the media and the main topics.

While in the 1980s and 90s the creative work concentrated painting, especially portraiture, since 1996, the focus has been on new media. How are there: Media Art, Digital Art, Internet Art, Net-Art, E-Poetry, Electronic Literature. Multimedia, interactivity, international collaboration are key concepts of this period. Installation and object art appear peripherally. With the beginning of the 2010s painting and photography come back to the foreground.
