About

Srečo Dragan is an artist known for his pioneering work in video art. He collaborated with Ana Nuša Dragan from 1967 to 1988, creating the first video in Yugoslavia, "The White Milk of White Breasts," in 1969. They were also active members of the OHO movement in 1968 and 1969. Dragan taught esthetics and technology of video art at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana from 1987 until his retirement in 2014. His work has received significant recognition, including the 2007 Rihard Jakopič Award, the highest national award for fine and visual arts in Slovenia.

Srečo Dragan and Franc Solina are among the most important artistic personalities in Slovene new media art. For almost thirty years, they have been creating canonical new and intermedia artworks in Slovenia, both independently and as a duo. Srečo Dragan with an artistic background and Franc Solina with a scientific-technical background created works that showcased new technologies to the wider public, making them accessible and understandable during the pioneering phase. They founded the Laboratory of Computer Vision, where art and technology developed simultaneously, and eventually expanded it into the ArtNetLab, a broader laboratory platform where a whole generation of Slovenian new media artists developed their projects.
