Sjoukje van der Meulen
About
Sjoukje van der Meulen is an art historian, theorist and critic with a research focus on new media and digital culture. She received her PhD from the GSAPP at Columbia University (New York, 2009). She lived in the United States for 15 years (1997-2012) and worked as a (visiting) Assistant Professor at The University of Illinois at Chicago and the University of Oregon. From 2013-2015 she was a lecturer in the Department of Media Studies, New Media and Digital Culture, at the University of Amsterdam (2013-2015) and is currently an Assistant Professor of Modern and Contemporary Art at Utrecht University, both in the Netherlands. She was editor and critic of Metropolis M (1995-1997) and co-editor-in-chief of Stedelijk Studies (2019-2020). She was the Rudolf Arnheim Guest professor at Humboldt University for the winter 2020-2021.
