Martin Kusch is particularly interested in the influence of digital technologies on our way of thinking and on our perception of the body and space. Following his studies in art history, philosophy, and painting in Berlin and in media art with Peter Weibel in Vienna, his work as an independent media artist led him to the founding and artistic co-direction of the digital performance group kondition pluriel, Montreal (2000 – ), as well as of the Fulldome VR/AR Lab (2014 – ) at the University of Applied Arts Vienna, where he is currently associate professor.
Martin Kusch’s artistic practice is rooted in the creation of media installations and interactive environments. Media hybridization and processes of transformation of electronic image and sound in a performative context are his main fields of exploration. In addition to pursuing his artistic work with kondition pluriel, he collaborates on international research projects that focus on virtual environments, machine learning, robotics, and artificial intelligence.
