Working with computer based arts since the late 1960s. There should be humour and politics, at least sometimes, in art. Especially the humour and politics of digital art. I think art should be a more or less systematic enquiry whose goal is knowledge, and never just decoration.
The sadness of most art is that it doesn't know its future. The sadness of media art is that it often does not know its past.

Many one-person and group exhibitions internationally. Winner of the first Prix Ars Electronica. Makes artworks and writes about stuff in the field of computer based arts and beyond. Many books, articles, conference contributions and performances. UK and British nationalities (brexit). Lives and works in Berlin, Germany.
